About the player
Hugo Magallanes came through Cerro Largo, making his senior debut there in 2015 and winning the Uruguayan Segunda División with the club in 2018. That form took him to Nacional in 2019, where he collected the Primera División and Torneo Clausura titles in his first year.
What followed was a run of loans: back to Cerro Largo, then to Querétaro in Mexico, Patronato and Ayacucho in Argentina and Peru respectively, and Cerro. In 2023 he moved on permanently to Racing Club de Montevideo.
Internationally, Magallanes has stayed on the fringes of the senior Uruguay side. He was called into the U18 squad back in 2015 and, nearly a decade later, earned a single cap for the Uruguay A' side in a friendly against Guatemala in September 2024, without adding a senior appearance for the main national team.
His move to Chile came in January 2025, joining Everton de Viña del Mar on loan from Racing Club and going on to make 21 league appearances for the side. Reports indicate Everton signed him permanently in January 2026 on a contract through the end of 2028.
