Austria Wien Women

Before this club had a name of its own, its players wore somebody else's colours for the better part of six years. The team that now plays as FK Austria Wien Frauen began life in 2015 as a Spielgemeinschaft with USC Landhaus Wien, a club founded in 1968 and one of the most decorated in Austrian women's football. Under that arrangement the side changed shirts more than once: as USC Landhaus Wien, briefly as "Austria Wien Ladies" for a reserve team in the Vienna league in 2017/18, then as SG USC Landhaus/FK Austria Wien in the top flight from 2018 to 2021, before the partnership gave way to a club standing on its own.

The wait for a first trophy under the Austria Wien name ran almost as long. Runners-up finishes in the ÖFB Frauen-Bundesliga in 2019/20 and 2024/25, and lost cup finals in 2023/24 and 2024/25, preceded a 2025/26 season in which the club finally won both: the league and the ÖFB-Frauenpokal in the same campaign, its first senior honours since becoming an independent entity. That domestic breakthrough came alongside a run to the Women's Europa Cup quarter-final, where wins over Slavia Prague and Anderlecht were undone by Sparta Prague, and a Champions League qualifying campaign in which the club beat Glasgow City and FC Minsk before losing to Paris FC in the third round — a sequence it went some way to repeating in 2026/27, seeing off Hajduk Split and Farul Constanța to reach a third-round tie with Brann.

Home games are played at the Franz-Horr-Stadion, the venue the club shares with the men's side and knows on European nights as Viola Park — 17,500 seats for domestic fixtures, reduced to 15,000 for continental football, in a stadium whose name, like the team's purple shirts and its "Veilchen" nickname, borrows directly from the club next door.
