Brøndby

Women had been playing football in Brøndby since 1971, when the club's men's side — formed in December 1964 — added a women's section.

The trophies arrived in a rush. Between 2003 and 2008 Brøndby took six consecutive Danish league titles, and by 2019 the count stood at 12.

Nanna Christiansen is the through-line. She played 520 matches for Brøndby and scored 270 goals, both club records, and no other figure in the women's side's history comes close on either count.

Europe has been harder. Three semi-finals in the Women's Champions League — 2003-04, 2006-07 and 2014-15 — mark the ceiling, each arriving during a different generation of the domestic run rather than as a single peak.

Meetings with Fortuna Hjørring are known in Denmark as the kvinde-derby.

The colours are blue and yellow, sometimes described as gold and blue. It began as a section of somebody else's club, and the arrangement that started in 1971 is the one it still plays under.
