HC Kreuzlingen Women

The women's section at Kreuzlingen grew up inside a broader sports club, Handball Sportclub Kreuzlingen, founded in 1970 in the small town on the shore of Lake Constance, and for years it worked its way up through the lower divisions before reaching the top-flight SPAR Premium League in 2019. Kristina Ertl-Hug took the team into that company on merit: named the best coach in the division in 2024, she pushed the side into the playoffs and into European Cup qualification, work that followed on from what Werner Bösch had built after arriving in 2020 fresh from a Swiss championship with LC Brühl. Off the pitch, youth football at the club carried the mark of Adolf Frombach, a trainer whose influence lasted until his death in 2020.

Fixtures against TSV St. Otmar St. Gallen carry their own weight in the east of the country, billed as the Ostschweizer Derby, the kind of match where league position counts for less than local pride. The team has worn Dutch international Maxime Drent and Kosovo international Dafina Mustafa in its ranks alongside long-serving players such as Pashke Marku and Jennifer Grathwohl, and it plays in front of a modest crowd at the Sporthalle Egelsee, which holds 800.

In 2025 the club pulled the women's team out of the SPAR Premium League by choice, stepping back from the top flight to put its resources into youth development and regional talent instead. Under president Patrick Müller, Kreuzlingen now works from the lower tiers again, still without a Swiss championship or a Swiss Cup title to its name.
