Hranice

A 22:21 win over HC Dukla Praha in the final gave Hranice the Czech Cup in 2013. The same season the men's team pushed on to finish second in the Extraliga, a run it repeated the following year and then matched with bronze in 2015/16 — three podium finishes in four seasons without ever taking the league title itself.

The handball side traces back to 1923, when the game was first played in the town, though the section only took formal shape in 1957 under the wing of the local cement works — hence the nickname "Cement" that has stuck to the club ever since. Hranice played in the Czechoslovak First League as early as the 1969/70 season and stood among the founding members when the Czech Extraliga was set up in 1993. Between 2002 and 2004 the club tested itself in the international Interliga, and in the 1990s it went as far as an EHF Cup semi-final.

Matches against KH Kopřivnice carry more weight than the rest of the calendar, billed locally as a regional derby between the two closest rivals in the area.

Hranice play at the Sportovní hala TJ Cement Hranice, a 550-seat hall that has stayed the club's home through its cup run, its league finishes and its European nights alike.
