Visp

By 1954 the town had a club of its own, KTV Visp, playing in blue and white.

The highest point on record came early, a fourth-place finish at the 1980/81 Swiss Indoor Handball Championship final tournament. Since then the club has moved in smaller steps — runner-up in the 2. Liga around 2016/17, a Round-of-32 exit in the Swiss Cup in 2021/22. None of it has carried the first team past the domestic mid-table.

Youth work has produced the sharper result: the U19 side, run jointly as SG Visp/Visperterminen, took the Swiss U19 Inter Championship, a title the senior club itself has never matched.

Locally the team is simply "die Visper," a name that describes where they are from rather than what they have won. No Swiss Cup, no national league title, no player from the senior side who has broken into wider recognition — Visp remains a club still waiting for the result that would put it above the leagues it has spent its history in.
