Sam Steel has signed a four-year extension with Dallas, running from the 2027/28 season with a cap hit of $3.7 million.
Both that final year and the first two years of the new contract carry an eight-team no-trade list.
Steel set career highs across the board last season, putting up 33 points (12 goals, 21 assists) in 73 regular-season games for the Stars. The playoffs were a different story: six games in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, no points, and a minus-7 rating.
He has played 491 NHL regular-season games in all, split between Anaheim, Minnesota and Dallas, for 175 points (61 goals, 114 assists). In the playoffs he has 14 points (3 goals, 11 assists) in 48 appearances.
