The bear that killed hockey coach Alexander Kuzmenko in Tuva has been destroyed. Artysh Salchak, head of the republic's State Committee for Hunting Supervision, told TASS that hunters carried it out.
Kuzmenko, 62, was attacked on 24 September while fishing with friends on the Bolshoi Yenisei. He was taken to hospital with severe injuries and died there.
He was the father of Andrei Kuzmenko, a forward for the Pittsburgh Penguins, and the founder of the White Bears hockey school in Moscow. Andrei began playing under his father's coaching. Nikita Korostelev, Daniil Grigoriev and Alexander Pelevin also came through the school.
The Penguins have yet to play a game this season. If the hunters' account holds, the matter of the animal is closed. The reports give no word from the family.
