Mërgim Krasniqi

Mërgim Krasniqi's career has been built on longevity rather than silverware. He spent more than a decade at Norrby IF, joining the club's youth setup and staying through to 2020, a stretch in which he made well over 230 league appearances and kept 41 clean sheets for the side. A brief loan spell at Bollebygd IF in 2010 was the only interruption to that long association.

After leaving Norrby as a free agent, Krasniqi signed for Örebro SK on a Bosman move at the end of 2020, playing seven league matches and one cup tie in the 2021 Allsvenskan season. His stay there was short, and in February 2022 he joined GAIS on a free transfer, initially on a one-season deal that has since been extended repeatedly, keeping him at the club through to 2026.

It is at GAIS that Krasniqi has had his most significant impact. Across his time there he has made over 100 league appearances and kept 39 clean sheets.

He has not been capped at senior international level for either Sweden or Kosovo, and his career has so far come without major trophies or individual honours. What stands out instead is consistency: a goalkeeper who has rarely moved and rarely dropped out of a team, from the lower reaches of Swedish football through to the Allsvenskan with GAIS.
