About the player
Róbert Frosti Þorkelsson made his first-team debut for Stjarnan on 3 October 2022, aged 17, in the Besta deild karla. He went on to make 55 league appearances for the Icelandic club between 2022 and 2024, scoring three goals, and added seven more in cup competitions and four in European fixtures. In July 2024 he made his debut in the UEFA Conference League.
In January 2025 he moved to GAIS, signing a contract that runs to the end of 2029. He now wears number 17 for the Swedish club, with his right foot as his stronger side.
At youth international level, Þorkelsson has represented Iceland at under-19, under-20 and under-21 level. With the under-19s he featured at the 2023 European Championship, making nine appearances without scoring. He has also played twice for the under-20s and, most recently, has been capped 11 times by the under-21 side as they compete in qualifying for the 2027 European Championship. He has not yet featured for Iceland's senior national team.
