About the player

The transfer that took Samuel Şahin-Radlinger out of Austria also took him out of the team sheet. Hannover 96 paid SV Ried €250,000 for him in June 2011, and he remained on their books for eight years, much of it spent elsewhere. A loan at Rapid Wien in 2013–14 brought a single appearance. The following season at 1. FC Nürnberg brought no senior football at all.

Norway broke the pattern. Sent to SK Brann in 2018, he played 22 matches in the Eliteserien, and a free transfer to Barnsley followed in June 2019, with 18 appearances in the Championship over the 2019–20 season. Then came the return to where he had started: back at SV Ried from August 2020, again on a free, he made 84 league appearances across three seasons.

The Austria Wien chapter began oddly. He signed in September 2023, then left almost at once, loaned to Eredivisie side Almere City for the rest of the campaign, where he played six times. He came back to Vienna in June 2024, and the 2024–25 season delivered what the previous decade had not: the Austrian Cup and the Austrian Bundesliga title.

Before all of it there was the SV Ried academy, which developed him from youth level to a senior breakthrough, and a full run through the Austrian national youth sides — U18, U19, U20 and U21, the last of those bringing 12 caps.
