Waylon Renecke

Waylon Renecke arrived at Hammarby in the summer of 2026 on a permanent deal from FC Copenhagen, signing a contract running to the end of 2030 after a transfer fee reported at between four and five million Swedish kronor. Born in Peterborough, Renecke started out in the city's own academy before joining Norwich City at 13, where he rose through the youth ranks and was named among the first-team substitutes in March 2024 without ever making a senior appearance. A second loan followed in the first half of 2026, this time at Esbjerg fB in the Danish 1st Division, before Copenhagen sold him on to Hammarby. Renecke's international story has its own twist. Eligible for both England and South Africa, he represented England at under-16 and under-17 level before switching allegiance to South Africa, for whom he has won four caps at under-17 level. He was part of the South Africa squad at the 2023 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Algeria, where the team beat Zambia but lost to Morocco and Nigeria in the group stage. He has yet to add a senior cap for South Africa to his record.
