Buckley sits in Flintshire, close enough to the border that its football has always been shaped by proximity to Wrexham rather than any pull toward the Cardiff game. The town had already tried the name twice before the club that carries it now existed: a Buckley Town folded in 1899 under money problems, another version broke up around 1939 when the war emptied the changing room. What plays at The Globe today traces back only to 1977, when Buckley Wanderers and Buckley Rovers, both stuck near the bottom of their division the previous season, merged rather than fight on separately.
The Globe holds 1,700, red and white run through the home kit, and the honours board leans hardest on cup competition rather than league titles. Buckley Town have taken the North East Wales FA Challenge Cup nine times, spread from 1980 through to 2013, a habit no other trophy in the cabinet comes close to matching. The league side of things arrived later and more sparingly: the Cymru Alliance in 2004–05, then the Welsh National League's Wrexham Area Premier Division in 2017–18, the latter paired with the Presidents Cup in the same season.
Buckley Town play in the Ardal Leagues, the tier structure Welsh football settled into after the old pyramid was reshuffled, still working out of Flintshire with the same red shirts and the same ground that has hosted them since before most of the current honours were won.
