Deportivo FATIC

El Alto's second club: FATIC competes in the Copa Simón Bolívar, the promotion ladder to Bolivia's top flight, and against La Paz rivals in the Primera A of the departmental association, the AFLP. It reached the national competition's semifinals in 2019 but has not gone further, and the step up to the Primera División has not yet come.

What the club has built instead is a regional stranglehold. Between 2019 and 2023 it took the AFLP Primera A title five years running, adding a Copa Bolivia regional crown in 2022 along the way. That run belongs to a club that grew out of a family project: the Ticona brothers, Javier, Freddy, René and Froilán, put it together in March 2000. It did not stay simply theirs. In 2016 it merged with Club Deportivo Cultural Fraternidad Tigres, played for a year and a half under the joined name Fraternidad Tigres FATIC, then went back to being Deportivo FATIC before the end of 2017.

Goalkeeper David Akologo carried the club's name onto a bigger stage in 2024, when the naturalised Bolivian earned a call-up to the national side.

Auriazules, blue and yellow, is what the shirt earns them, and the closest derby now runs against CD Ingenio rather than the old Always Ready fixture that once gave El Alto its Clásico Alteño. FATIC plays out its home matches at the Estadio Municipal de El Alto, a ground built for the city's altitude and its crowd of roughly 23,000, on the plateau above La Paz where the club has spent its whole history.
