Frydek-Mistek

For most of its top-flight seasons, Frýdek-Místek played under someone else's name. Between the late 1990s and the mid-2000s the club competed as Radegast Frýdek-Místek, and it was under that banner, in 2003, that it won its only Czech Extraliga title. Five times in the surrounding years it finished second — in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2005 — a run of near-misses that bracketed the single championship rather than leading up to it.

Off the court, the club has been shaped just as much by sponsorship. Daniel Valo, who played for the club during its strongest years, has since returned as head coach. In 2024 the presidency changed hands for the first time in over two decades, when Martin Konečný succeeded Lubomír Kavka, who had run the club since 2002.

The club, founded in 1989, still plays in blue and yellow, and still meets KH Kopřivnice in what is known locally as the Moravian-Silesian derby. Home games are played in the hall of the town's sixth elementary school, a ground that holds around 500 people — small enough that a title-winning side and a modest sports hall have never seemed like a contradiction in Frýdek-Místek.
