Fylkir

Fram sit across Reykjavik from Fylkir, and the derby has been personal since the Árbær side first met them in senior competition. It was KR who stood in Fylkir's way when the title looked within reach in 2002 — a runners-up finish that still marks the closest Fylkir have come to the top flight's championship.

The club began as KSÁ, formed by a group of young people in Árbær on 28 May 1967. The name did not last: members voted it awkward and replaced it with Fylkir. For its first years the club ran youth teams only — a senior side did not enter national competition until 1972.

The Úrvalsdeild title has eluded Fylkir; second place in 2000 and 2002 remains as close as the club has got. The Icelandic Cup is where the club's name is written twice over, in 2001 and 2002, and the second division has been Fylkir's most familiar territory — won in 1992, 1995, 1999, 2017 and 2022, with three earlier promotions from the third tier in the 1970s and 1980s.

Home matches are played at Fylkisvöllur, known to sponsors as Würth völlurinn, in orange and black.
