The Rangers arrive at this OHL season.

The franchise is older than the city's name on the jersey suggests. It began in 1947 as the Guelph Biltmore Mad Hatters, became the Guelph Royals in 1960, and had already won a Memorial Cup in 1952. The move came in 1963, when the club relocated and took the Rangers name it still carries.

Home games are played in front of just over 7,000 at the Dom Cardillo Arena, part of the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex.

The dressing room has sent five players to the Hockey Hall of Fame — Scott Stevens, Bill Barber, Paul Coffey, Larry Robinson and Al MacInnis all wore the sweater before their NHL careers — and more recently produced Gabriel Landeskog and Nazem Kadri.

None of that carries the weight, in Kitchener, of the games against the London Knights. The London–Kitchener rivalry is the fixture that decides how a season gets remembered here, wins and championships aside.
