Lokomotiv Kyiv

The one title Lokomotyv can properly claim came not in a national competition but on a run-in nobody outside the Second League tracked closely — top of Group B in the 2025/26 season, enough to earn promotion to the First League. It sits alongside a quarter-final run in the Cup that same season.

The name changed in 1936, but the identity behind it stayed fixed to the Southwestern Railway, which ran the club independently of the other Lokomotyv sides in Moscow or Kharkiv. That link outlasted the Soviet era in name if not in structure, and it explains a badge that still carries a red letter "L" alongside a green TE3 diesel locomotive, worn on a red shirt with green shorts and socks.

The Vinnytsia offshoot broke away in 1978 to become Kolos, leaving the Kyiv side to fade from senior football until its revival in 2021. Petro Dmytrenko took the team through that first season back at professional level; Vadym Lazorenko then ran the side from 2023 to 2025. Serhiy Karpenko has managed since.

The club's own Lokomotyv Stadium in Kyiv, reopened after reconstruction in 2011–2012, was hit by a missile strike in January 2024 and left in ruins. Plans now call for rebuilding it with capacity raised to 5,000. Until that happens, Lokomotyv carries its promotion into the First League with a stadium still to be replaced.
