Mariusz Kempys has spent this club's life on both sides of the touchline: top scorer of the Ekstraklasa in the 2007/2008 season under the old GKS Olimpia banner, he now sits on the bench as head coach. The original club, formed in 1968 from the merger of two local sides, reached as high as fourth place in the Ekstraklasa in 2006/2007, losing the bronze medal match to Vive Kielce, before relegation two years later sent it down to the I Liga. By 2014 the players and coaches had had enough of the old structure and set up a new entity, MKS Olimpia, taking the handball section and the I Liga licence with them. The club marked ten years under that name in April 2024. Since the restart, the I Liga title has come twice, in 2018/2019 and again in 2021/2022. The second of those wins earned promotion to the Superliga, an offer the club turned down, choosing instead to play a season in the Liga Centralna. Relegation from that second tier followed after the 2024/2025 campaign, and Olimpia now sit top of Group D in the I Liga this season, working their way back up. Matches against KS Viret CMC Zawiercie carry the weight of a Silesian derby. Home games are played in yellow, black and green at the Hala MOSiR "Olimpia," a hall that holds 1,500.
