Sumqayıt

Sumqayıt PFK spent its first years at the Kapital Bank Arena, a 15,350-seat ground, before moving in 2024 into the newly built Mehdi Huseynzade Sumgait City Stadium, which holds 10,047.

Within its first two years, even the club's own name was unsettled: registered as Sumqayıt FK in 2010, it briefly used the transliteration Sumgayit from late 2011 to January 2012, then reverted to the Azerbaijani spelling it has kept since. It plays in purple and white.

Sumqayıt has yet to win the league or the Azerbaijan Cup, but it has come close twice: reaching the Cup final in 2018/19 and again in 2020/21, and closing that second season with the bronze medal. Much of that run came together under coach Samir Abbasov, who took charge in two separate spells, from 2015 to 2018 and again from 2022 to 2024. Amil Yunanov, the club's top scorer in 2015/16 and again in 2017/18, was one of the forwards who carried those sides forward.

Sumqayıt has gone into European qualifying three times since 2020, in the Europa League and then twice in the Conference League.
