Unterland

Unterland Cavaliers spent the 2023-24 season finishing ninth in the regular season before pushing through to the Serie A semi-finals under head coach Olli Hällfors. The club still measures itself against the Coppa Italia run that brought back-to-back titles in 2021 and 2022, a stretch that also delivered the Serie B championship and, briefly, a runners-up finish to Asiago in the Supercoppa Italiana.

The rink at Neumarkt/Egna, the Würth Arena, and matches there against Rittner Buam carry the weight of a South Tyrolean derby, while games against HC Gherdeina are simply called the Derby. Against Merano, the rivalry is regional and unnamed.

Captain Tobias Brighenti leads a side. That nickname belongs to history now, not to the team that plays under the Cavaliers badge.

Egna's own hockey story ran back to 1963, through an Inter-National League title in 2013-14 and a Coppa di Lega A2 win the year before that.
