Deportivo Morón secured a clean sheet against Almagro in the 25th round of the Primera Nacional on Friday evening. The hosts won 2-0 thanks to early strikes that put the visitors under pressure from the start.
E. Iniguez opened the scoring in the eighth minute, and M. Levato doubled the advantage nine minutes later. Almagro had to chase the game after those two goals, and they struggled to find their rhythm.
Tension rose as the match progressed. M. Cortave went into the book for Morón in the 18th minute, followed by M. Bittolo in the 32nd. Almagro's J. Olivares and J. Vitale also saw yellow cards in the second half.
Almagro made four changes at the break, bringing on F. Fagundez, C. Salto, F. Bustamante and E. Martinez. Morón responded later, swapping M. Bittolo and M. Levato for J. Orlando and T. Macies in the 69th minute.
And here's the thing, the numbers told a close story. Possession was split 51 per cent to 49, while both sides registered two shots on target. Morón had more attacks (51) and corners (3), but Almagro kept things tight with fewer offsides.
The win keeps Deportivo Morón in second place with 52 points from 28 games. Almagro remain in 12th position on 34 points, with six defeats away from safety.
