Dynamo Moscow secured a comfortable 3:0 victory over Akhmat Grozny in the Cup group stage on Wednesday evening. The hosts controlled proceedings from the opening exchanges, scoring three times to leave the visitors with little to play for. Three goals in ninety minutes proved more than enough to seal progression.
Yvan Sergeev opened the scoring just before half-time, finishing from close range after Dynamo had pinned Akhmat back. By then the visitors were already on the back foot, with Klisman Cake picking up a yellow card twenty-one minutes in for a late challenge. The goal gave the home side confidence to push forward.
Akhmat made four changes at the interval, bringing on Júlio Romão, Daniil Fomin and Ulvi Babaev alongside Galymzhan Kenzhebek's replacement. It did not change the pattern of the game. Yaroslav Gladyshev doubled the lead fifty-three minutes in, catching the visitors out of position as they struggled to clear their lines.
Konstantin Tyukavin added a third with ninety minutes remaining, slotting home after a neat move through the middle. Ismael Silva went into the referee's book forty-nine minutes in, and Danil Glebov followed suit seventy-seven minutes in. Dynamo did not travel to make up the numbers, and they showed it.
The statistics tell a straightforward story. Both sides held fifty per cent possession, but Dynamo registered five shots on target to Akhmat's two. The visitors managed more corners and free kicks, but could not find a way through the home side's structure.
The result leaves Dynamo top of their group, while Akhmat now face a difficult path to advancement. Three clean goals in a group stage match was exactly what was needed.
