FH Hafnarfjörður lost 2-4 to Víkingur Reykjavík in the Úrvalsdeild regular season on Saturday. The visitors took all three points to extend their lead at the top of the table. It was the 19th round of fixtures.
I. Olafsson gave the hosts an early lead in the 31st minute. But H. Gudjonsson equalised for Víkingur five minutes later before G. Sigurdsson put the visitors ahead on the stroke of half-time. Two substitutions came at the break as FH tried to respond.
G. Vatnhamar restored parity in the 54th minute, bringing the score level after the visitors' early advantage. A. Birgisson struck again just three minutes later with a goal that shifted the balance back. V. Ingimundarson sealed the victory late on in the 89th minute.
The visitors had made several changes during the second half, bringing on S. Hjaltested in the 66th minute and then three more players in the 69th. A further pair arrived in the 78th minute before they saw the game out with a substitution for their late scorer in the 91st minute.
Víkingur dominated possession at 59 per cent and registered 205 attacks compared with 113 for the hosts. They created three big chances and took seven shots on target, while FH managed only two big chances and three attempts on goal. The hosts made more clearances — 40 to 28 — as they tried to contain the visitors' pressure.
Víkingur remain top of the Úrvalsdeild with 55 points from 22 games, having lost just once this season. FH sit ninth with 21 points from 21 matches, a result that does little to improve their standing. The gap between the two sides now stretches to 34 points.
