Agen kept pace at the top of Pro D2 with a 39-33 victory over Grenoble on Friday evening. The result keeps both sides within touching distance of each other in the table, with Agen sitting seventh on 72 points and Grenoble eighth on 62 after 30 matches each.
Agen's win moves them closer to the play-off spots, though the gap between seventh and eighth remains tight. Grenoble's defeat means they cannot close the distance on the teams above them, while Agen extend their lead over the hosts by ten points.
Grenoble arrived in decent form, having won three of their last five matches including a comfortable 57-33 victory over Oyonnax. Agen's recent record is more mixed — they lost to Brive 37-14 in their previous outing and have struggled for consistency over the past month.
Our prediction backed the home side at 82 per cent confidence, but the match went another way. Agen were sharper in the final quarter and took control when Grenoble had chances to respond.
The result leaves Agen in seventh place with 72 points, three points clear of Grenoble. Both sides have played 30 games and both have 15 losses, but Agen's extra wins make the difference at this stage of the season.
