Kawasaki Frontale saw off Shimizu S-Pulse 3-1 at the National Stadium on Saturday, taking all three points in the J-League 1 regular season round six. The visitors went down to a red card in the fortieth minute, and Kawasaki never looked back despite a spirited second-half response. Oh Se-hun and Marcio Augusto da Silva Barbosa both found the net for the hosts, while Shimizu's Brazilian attacker scored twice in vain.
Kyosuke Mochiyama opened the scoring in the first minute, catching Shimizu cold before they had settled into a rhythm. By then the visitors were already under pressure, and things turned ugly in the fortieth minute when Jelani Reshaun Sumiyoshi was sent off. Kawasaki had the numerical advantage and went on to control the game, though Shimizu never stopped trying.
Oh Se-hun doubled the lead from the penalty spot in the sixty-eighth minute after a stoppage that followed the earlier dismissal. Kawasaki were clinical when it mattered, creating five big chances compared to Shimizu's two. The hosts passed with purpose, completing 426 out of 488 attempts while Shimizu managed 291 from 365.
Marcio Augusto da Silva Barbosa pulled one back in the seventy-seventh minute and added another in the ninetieth, but it was too little too late. Shimizu had seven tackles compared to Kawasaki's eleven, but they lacked the cut-through in the final third. The visitors created less with 61 passes into the final third against Kawasaki's 178.
Kawasaki remain in tenth place with nine points from six games, while Shimizu sit seventeenth on four. The hosts had lost their previous match 2-1 to Machida Zelvia, but this result extends their unbeaten run to five across all competitions. Shimizu's away form remains a concern with only one victory in six league matches this season.
