Remo played out a 0:0 draw against Coritiba in the 25th round of Brazil's Serie A at the Manegrra stadium on Monday evening. The result leaves the hosts 19th with 24 points, while Coritiba remain ninth on 34 points after drawing for the second time in as many matches.
The match was eventful in moments that did not find the net. Pedro Rocha had a goal disallowed in the 47th minute, and Yago Pikachu missed a penalty before slotting one in at the same minute. Ze Ricardo also struck in the 61st, only for it to be ruled out, while Fabinho scored twice in quick succession in the 76th and 77th. There was an own goal by Ze Welison early on, but none of the goals stood and both sides saw it out the remainder.
Coritiba made changes to their back line, bringing on J. Lavega and Breno Lopes for the hosts at the hour mark. Fernando Sobral and Tissi were also replaced for Coritiba in the 59th minute, and Ze Welison came off for Yago Pikachu in the 79th. L. Picco and A. Galeano were among the late changes for Remo.
Remo dominated possession with 61 per cent but could not convert their chances. They registered 24 shots, 17 off target, and created three big chances with an expected goals tally of 2.86. Coritiba were more efficient, hitting 45 per cent accuracy on five shots on target from 20 attempts, with an xG of 1.48.
The hosts made 425 passes to Coritiba's 288, but it was not enough to break down a side that made 37 clearances and won more aerial duels in their own half. Three yellow cards were shown for Remo and one for Coritiba, with Ze Welison and Marllon among those cautioned at the end.
The draw keeps Coritiba within striking distance of the top half, while Remo remain rooted to the bottom of the table. Neither side managed to build momentum from a match that had everything except a result.
