Match report

River Plate secure comfortable win over Miramar in Segunda División clash

River Plate saw off Miramar 3-0 at home in the second phase of the Segunda División, a result that keeps both sides in the lower half of the table. The hosts controlled the tempo throughout, taking the lead just after the hour mark and never looking back. To be fair, this wasn't the kind of performance that makes headlines, but it was efficient enough.

C. Techera opened the scoring in the 50th minute, running the show in the final third before finishing cleanly. The goal shifted the match entirely, putting Miramar on the back foot and giving River Plate the confidence to push forward. By then, the visitors were chasing shadows rather than creating anything meaningful.

S. Romero doubled the advantage in the 69th minute, capitalising on a moment of complacency from the away defence. Things came to a head quickly after that, with River Plate making no mistake in attack. The third goal arrived in stoppage time, I. Lopez slotting home in the 90+2nd minute to seal the victory.

Statistically, the match told a similar story. River Plate enjoyed 51 per cent possession and registered 20 shots compared to Miramar's seven. Ten shots on target for the hosts versus three for the visitors suggests they created better chances, and they converted accordingly. The clean-sheet run came to an end for Miramar, who had been more respectable in their previous outings.

Both teams remain in the bottom half with four and five points respectively after six games. Miramar's away form has been inconsistent, and this result extends a difficult run that includes losses to Plassa Colonia and La Luz. River Plate, meanwhile, picked up their second win of the campaign following a 2-0 victory over Sportivo Huacán earlier in the month.
