Slavia Prague put four past Zbrojovka Brno in a Czech League Regular Season match at the Fortuna Arena on Friday evening. The hosts took the lead through a Tomáš Chorý penalty just before half-time and never looked back. Three more goals followed in the second half to seal a comprehensive victory.
Chorý won his spot on the scoresheet from the spot in the 38th minute, which was the opening goal. He added a second in the 65th minute after the break. Emmanuel Ayaosi found the net in the 76th minute, and David Jurasek completed the scoring in the 88th minute. The visitors never threatened to get back into the game.
And here's the thing — Brno had more possession but could not find the target. They held 53 per cent of the ball and registered 78 attacks, yet their shots on target total was zero. Slavia, with just 47 per cent possession, created nine big chances and hit the woodwork with six shots on target. To be fair, the visitors' goalkeeper made two saves, but that was all he could offer.
Slavia remain top of the table with 17 points from seven games, five wins and two draws. They have not lost a match this season. Brno sit in sixth place with 13 points, four wins, one draw and two defeats. The gap between them has now widened to four points.
By then the match was effectively over after the third goal. Slavia made several changes in the closing stages, bringing on Tomáš Chorý and Danijel Sturm in the 80th minute. The crowd at the Fortuna Arena saw a display of clinical finishing that reflected the hosts' status as league leaders.
