Anthony Paulo Rodrigues Correia

Twice in the 2025/26 season, Anthony Correia was named defender of the month in the LigaPro — the campaign that carried Académico Viseu back into the Primeira Liga after a 37-year absence. He played 33 matches across that season, 32 of them in the league, with the side keeping 16 clean sheets.

Correia was born in Castres, in France, to Portuguese parents, and holds both nationalities. His football education was Portuguese: two years in the Vitória Guimarães youth set-up from 2015, then a season with the Leixões academy. He made his Liga Portugal 2 debut for Leixões on 6 January 2019, and played three matches for the club before moving on.

The move to Braga B in August 2019 gave him his first sustained run — 42 appearances and two goals across two seasons. What followed was a sequence of single-season stays, each of them on a free transfer: Estrela da Amadora in 2021/22, where he made 29 appearances and scored once behind a defence that conceded 45 goals; Vilafranquense in 2022/23, with 31 matches and no goals; AVS Futebol SAD in 2023/24, 32 matches and one goal; and Vizela in 2024/25, 29 matches without scoring.

He joined Académico Viseu as a free agent on 27 June 2025, signing until 30 June 2027. A centre-back who uses both feet, he has represented Portugal at youth level, including the semi-final of the 2018 Under-19 European Championship, but has not been capped by the senior side.
