Alexander Hack

Alexander Hack's career carries the mark of a defender who left one of Germany's mid-table clubs for a longer road: a spell in Saudi Arabia, then a switch to Major League Soccer with New York Red Bulls. Before any of that, he came through the youth ranks of TSV 1860 Munich, having started out at TSV 1862 Babenhausen and FC Memmingen. He returned to FC Memmingen for his first senior football, then moved on to SpVgg Unterhaching before Mainz 05 took him into their reserve side in 2014. He worked his way up from there, making his first-team debut the following year.

In August 2023 Hack left Mainz for Al-Qadsiah in the Saudi First Division, a transfer reported at around €1.5 million. The move paid off quickly: Al-Qadsiah won the Saudi First Division League in the 2023–24 season, earning promotion to the Saudi Pro League. It stands as the one team honour of his career so far.

He signed for New York Red Bulls on a free transfer in December 2024. That spell came to an early end, with his contract terminated in January 2026.

At youth international level, Hack was capped four times for Germany's under-20 side between 2013 and 2014, though a senior call-up has not followed.
