About the player
Umeh Emmanuel left Nigeria as a teenager and joined Vista Gelendzhik. Over two seasons in Plovdiv he made 40 league appearances and scored eight goals, and was part of the squad that won the Bulgarian Cup in 2023–24.
That form took him to Switzerland in July 2024, when he signed a five-year contract with FC Zürich. Reports at the time put the fee at around €1.3 million, though the clubs themselves did not confirm a figure. His first season in the Super League brought 29 league appearances and five goals, four of them coming after the split into the relegation group.
Emmanuel has represented Nigeria at youth level, earning five caps for the U-20 side and starting all five matches at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina. He is yet to be called into the senior national team.
At Zürich, Emmanuel plays as a left winger or as a forward, wearing the number 11 shirt.
