Daníel Freyr Kristjánsson

Daníel Freyr Kristjánsson came up through Stjarnan, where he made three first-team appearances before FC Midtjylland signed him in 2022 on a three-year contract. The move to Denmark paid off quickly: he won the Danish Youth Championship at Under-19 level with Midtjylland in 2024.

Game time at senior level came through a loan rather than a breakthrough at Midtjylland itself. Sent to FC Fredericia in July 2024, the left-back settled into a regular role, racking up 47 league appearances split between the 1st Division and the Superliga plus two cup outings across two seasons. Fredericia extended the loan for a second year but did not take up the option to sign him permanently, and in June 2026 Kristjánsson moved on to Lyngby Boldklub on a four-year deal.

He has been a fixture of Iceland's youth set-up for years, working his way from the Under-15s through to Under-21 level, and picked up 17 caps and a goal at Under-19s while playing at the 2023 UEFA European Under-19 Championship. By mid-2026 he had added 13 caps at Under-21 level. A senior call-up has yet to follow.

Left-footed and comfortable at left-back, Kristjánsson now takes his Danish top-flight experience from Fredericia into a new challenge at Lyngby, where the number 6 shirt is his.
