David Retamal

Retamal is a product of Universidad de Chile's youth academy. He signed his first professional contract in January 2024 and made his debut for the first team on 7 April 2024, coming off the bench in a Primera División fixture against Unión Española. He had already got on the scoresheet a few months earlier, in a friendly against Huachipato in November 2023.

With Universidad de Chile he picked up two pieces of silverware: the Copa Chile in 2024, in which he featured in the Round of 16 tie against Everton, and the Supercopa de Chile in 2025, when he was named among the substitutes as the club beat Colo-Colo 3–0. His run with the first team was interrupted in January 2025, when a suspension left him out of the squad for the Copa de Verano.

Retamal moved on loan to Universidad de Concepción in 2025, playing in the Primera B and in the Copa Chile. He was recalled by Universidad de Chile in July 2025, but the stay in the capital was brief: on 12 January 2026 he was loaned back to Universidad de Concepción, by then promoted to the Primera División, for a spell due to run to the end of December 2026.
