When Ervin Torres steps onto the pitch for Austin, he came through the Austin FC Academy before moving up to Austin FC II in July 2023, and every level of the organisation — academy, second team, first team — has now seen him wear the shirt.

With Austin FC II in MLS Next Pro, Torres built a case for promotion over two seasons, appearing 59 times and contributing 10 goals and 6 assists from midfield. That side won the MLS Next Pro title in 2023 and the MLS Next Pro Invitational in 2024, and Torres was named to the MLS Next All-Star selection in 2023.

His first-team debut came on 19 October 2024 against the Colorado Rapids, when he was sent on with seven minutes left and Austin held on for a 3-2 win. It has been a gradual introduction rather than a breakthrough — four MLS appearances to date — but the club backed its own development by signing him to a Homegrown contract in November 2025, with the deal running through 2028 and club options for 2029 and 2030.

Born in Laredo, Texas, Torres represents the kind of pathway Austin has tried to build since entering MLS: a local product trusted to grow into the first team rather than being bought in.
