About the player
Erik Botheim was still a teenager when he forced his way into Lyn's first team at 15, and when his Rosenborg contract was torn up he joined Bodø/Glimt on a free transfer in January 2021.
That move paid off immediately: Botheim scored 15 league goals as Glimt won the Eliteserien title, and he struck twice in a 6–1 thrashing of Roma in the Europa Conference League. Bodø/Glimt pursued the unpaid balance of the fee through the Court of Arbitration for Sport, which ruled in the Norwegian club's favour in January 2025, ordering Krasnodar to pay around €2.89 million plus interest.
A free transfer to Salernitana followed. Botheim's career picked up again at Malmö FF, where he scored 12 goals and added 6 assists in his first Allsvenskan season, including a hat-trick against Kalmar FF, as the club won the league and the Svenska Cupen. A broken foot wiped out most of his 2025 campaign. He earned his first senior Norway cap as a substitute against Denmark in June 2024, in a match Norway lost 1–3.
