About the player
Frankfurt-born, Teklab is German by citizenship and of Eritrean descent, though he has not been capped at senior level by either country. His route to professional football ran through the German lower leagues, moving through Germania Schwanheim , Rot-Weiss Frankfurt , Hessen Dreieich , VfB Ginsheim and Bayern Alzenau before he settled at SC Preußen Münster in 2021. That move proved decisive: over two seasons he scored 13 goals in 65 Regionalliga West appearances and helped the club to the league title in 2021–22. In July 2023 he joined Union SG in Belgium on a free transfer, signing until 2027. A broken fibula sustained in August 2024 ruled him out for much of that title-winning campaign, and he did not return to action until early 2025. Teklab left Union SG for OH Leuven on a free transfer in September 2025. He has made his first appearances for the club in the early weeks of the 2025–26 season, scoring once so far.
