Kyan Vaesen

Kyan Vaesen was born in Huddersfield, England, where his father, the former goalkeeper Nico Vaesen, was playing at the time. He came through the youth ranks at KVV Heusden-Zolder and Sporting Hasselt before joining KVC Westerlo in 2014. He was promoted to Westerlo's first team in July 2019 and signed his first professional contract the following month.

Vaesen went on to make 89 league appearances for Westerlo, scoring 14 goals, and was part of the squad that won the Challenger Pro League title in the 2021–22 season. He spent the 2020–21 campaign on loan at KVV Thes Sport Tessenderlo.

At international level, Vaesen represented Belgium's youth sides, collecting nine caps for the under-19s and two caps, with one goal, for the under-21s.

In February 2026, Vaesen completed a permanent move to OH Leuven, signing until June 2029. The transfer fee was reported at €150,000, considerably below the €700,000 figure often quoted, which reflected his market valuation rather than the actual price paid.
