About the player
He Xiaoqiang has picked up a nickname in Chinese media that no amount of individual awards could match: 冲超福将, the "promotion lucky charm". Three clubs in three years have gone up to the Chinese Super League with him in the side.
He came through the Beijing Guoan academy and was promoted to the senior squad in 2020, making his debut in the Chinese FA Cup that November. The real football came on loan. At Qingdao West Coast in 2023 he made 11 league appearances as the club finished runners-up in China League One and went up. A year later, on loan again, this time at Dalian Yingbo, he played 30 league matches and scored, and Dalian Yingbo won the title outright and earned promotion themselves.
In January 2025 the loan spells ended: he left Beijing Guoan permanently for Chongqing Tonglianglong. He was a fixture through the 2025 China League One season, playing 30 league matches, scoring twice and setting up five more, as Chongqing Tonglianglong finished second and secured their own promotion to the top flight for 2026.
