Lucas Cavalcante Silva Afonso

Known as Lucão, the defender came through São Paulo FC's youth ranks between 2013 and 2017, a period that also brought him into Brazil's junior national sides. He collected 14 caps for the Brazil under-17 team, reaching the final of the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates, where Brazil finished runners-up. Two years later he stepped up to the under-20 side, adding eight caps and another final appearance, this time at the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand, again ending on the losing side. A single appearance for Brazil's under-23 Olympic squad followed, though a senior call-up never came.

His path through Brazilian football since leaving São Paulo has been built on free transfers rather than fees. He turned out for Goiás in 2021 before spells at Mirassol and CSA overlapped across 2021 and 2022. In December 2022 he joined Guarani FC, where he featured in both the Série B and the Campeonato Paulista during 2023.

In February 2024 Lucão signed for OFI Crete in Greece, before returning to Brazil the same year to join América Mineiro. That stay lasted until February 2026, when he moved on again on a free transfer, this time to Chongqing Tongliang Long in China.
