About the player
Cîmpanu joined Chongqing Tonglianglong on loan until the end of 2026. The switch has suited him: by September 2026 he had scored five goals and set up six more in 24 Chinese Super League appearances, a productive return for a right winger who plays off his left foot.
He came through the youth ranks at Concordia Chiajna, with a short stint in Germany at FC Memmingen before returning to finish his development back at Chiajna. His senior career began at CSM Alexandria, where he scored 11 goals in 24 Liga III matches.
The biggest move of his career came in October 2020, when CS Universitatea Craiova paid €500,000 for him, a fee that included a sell-on clause for Botoșani. He made 99 league appearances and scored 11 goals, and won both the Cupa României and the Supercupa României with the club. Loan spells followed at FC Universitatea Cluj and FC UTA Arad before he returned to Botoșani on a free transfer in January 2025.
His time back at Botoșani was brief. Chongqing Tonglianglong secured him on loan for a €50,000 fee, with a potential €250,000 add-on. He has not been capped by Romania at senior level.
