About the player
Idris Bounaas joined Olympique Lyonnais's academy at the age of nine, arriving from Cascol FC in Oullins, and spent the following years working through the club's youth ranks with the U17 and U19 sides. He was registered with the Lyon first-team squad between July 2020 and June 2022 without making a competitive appearance, before moving into the reserve side, Olympique Lyonnais B, where he played in National 2 until the summer of 2023.
His path then took him abroad. In February 2024, Bounaas signed for CS Universitatea Craiova in Romania on a free transfer, joining on a short-term deal with an option to extend. He stayed at the club through the following two seasons before his departure.
In July 2026, the left-footed midfielder signed for Cherno More Varna in Bulgaria on a free transfer, agreeing a contract running until June 2029. At 192cm, Bounaas offers a physical presence in midfield, and his move to Bulgarian football marks a new chapter.
