About the player
Basel gave Chipperfield his football education before it gave him his debut. He came through the club's academy from 2013, signed his first professional contract in December 2020. It arrived in September 2021 in the Swiss Cup, followed by a Swiss Super League debut in February 2022.
He left before that Basel contract had even run its course. In July 2023, with the deal not due to expire until the November, Chipperfield moved on a free transfer to FC Sion.
Born in Basel, Chipperfield holds dual Swiss and Australian citizenship, though his representative football has run through the Swiss youth pathway. He has moved up through every age group, from six caps and two goals at under-16 level through to the under-21s, where he has continued to score as well as play.
