Montader Madjed

Montader Madjed was born in Jönköping and joined Varbergs BoIS on a three-year deal in January 2021. He made his Allsvenskan debut on 4 July 2021 at the age of 16, becoming the first player born in 2005 to appear in the Swedish top flight. After eight league appearances for Varbergs, he moved to Hammarby IF in August 2022 on a free transfer, with a sell-on clause attached for his former club, and signed a contract later extended to the end of 2028.

His path to Hammarby's first team ran through the reserves: on loan at Hammarby TFF in the third-tier Ettan, he scored five goals in thirteen appearances in 2022 before a quieter spell there in 2023. That same year he broke into the senior squad, making 16 league appearances and scoring once, and played his part in Hammarby's Svenska Cupen triumph, scoring in the group stage. He scored seven goals in 26 appearances as Hammarby finished the season as runners-up to Mjällby AIF.

Raised through Swedish youth football — where he won 12 caps and scored four goals for the under-17s, followed by eight caps for the under-19s — Madjed chose to represent Iraq at senior level, making his debut for the national team in 2024. He was part of Iraq's squad for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup, played in early 2024, and was later named in the country's preliminary 55-man list for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, though he did not make the final selection.
