About the player
Malik Abubakari arrived at Lyngby Boldklub in August 2024 on a free transfer, signing until 2027. Born in Tamale, the Ghanaian forward left Charity Stars for FC Vizela's youth ranks in Portugal, then signed for Moreirense, though he barely featured for the parent club: his development happened out on loan, first at Fafe in the Campeonato de Portugal, where he scored nine goals in 23 appearances, then at Casa Pia in the second tier, where he added eleven in 32.
That form earned him a move to Malmö FF in July 2021 for a fee of €0.7 million. He won the Allsvenskan in his first season and added the Svenska Cupen the following year, but his time in Sweden was defined as much by loans abroad as by his own appearances for the club. Sent to HJK Helsinki in 2022, he won the Veikkausliiga; sent on to ŠK Slovan Bratislava for the following season, he won the Slovak First League there too.
A brief loan at Viborg FF in 2024 brought two goals in 13 appearances before his switch to Lyngby confirmed him in the Danish Superliga. He has also earned senior international recognition with Ghana.
