About the player
Romarinho arrived at Criciúma with a career that had already run through South American, Middle Eastern and Gulf football. Born José Romário Silva de Souza, he made his name at Corinthians between 2012 and 2014, part of the squad that won the Copa Libertadores and the FIFA Club World Cup in 2012 before he set off for the Gulf.
That move took him to Qatar with Al-Jaish, then to Al-Jazira in the United Arab Emirates, before he settled longest at Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia, where he won the Saudi Pro League and the Saudi Super Cup. Spells at Neom and Al-Rayyan followed before he returned to Brazilian football.
Back home, Romarinho turned out for Vitória late in 2025, then returned to Sport Recife at the start of 2026.
