Marcelo Hermes

Marcelo Hermes came through the Grêmio academy and made his professional debut in 2015. Two years later Benfica paid a reported fee of around €2.9 million for him, and although he collected a Primeira Liga winner's medal in 2016–17, the left-back made only a single appearance for the first team, spending most of his time with Benfica B. Loan and transfer spells followed at Cruzeiro, where he won the Copa do Brasil and the Campeonato Mineiro in 2018, and then at Goiás.

After a stint in Portugal with Marítimo and a season at Ponte Preta, Hermes signed for Criciúma in February 2022 on a free transfer, and it is there that he has built the most settled spell of his career. He renewed his contract in December 2024 through 2026, and a loan move to Juventude for the second half of the 2025 season did not stop him returning to Criciúma at the start of 2026.

Playing at left-back or left wing-back, Hermes has become a fixture for the club, reaching 200 appearances in June 2026. The trophy haul at Criciúma includes the Campeonato Catarinense Série B in 2022, back-to-back Campeonato Catarinense titles in 2023 and 2024, the Recopa Catarinense in both 2024 and 2025, and the Taça Acesc in 2025. His form during the first phase of the 2024 Campeonato Catarinense earned him recognition as the competition's best left-back.
