About the player
Travis Hernes qualifies for both Norway and England, turning out for Norway's under-17, under-19 and under-20 sides. His path to Groningen ran through Newcastle United's academy, where he came through the youth ranks before the club decided that first-team football elsewhere would serve him better.
That decision sent him out on loan twice. Shrewsbury Town took him for the 2023/24 season, before Newcastle redirected him to Denmark for 2024/25, where he joined AaB. He then moved to the Netherlands: Groningen took him on loan for 2025/26.
He now wears the number 7 shirt for the Eredivisie club as a midfielder.
