About the player
He stayed three seasons in Porto Alegre, collecting two Campeonato Gaúcho titles and enough appearances to earn a €5 million move to VfL Wolfsburg in 2017.
The Wolfsburg years brought steady football but also a serious knee injury in February 2020 that interrupted his progress, and a loan spell at Schalke 04 in 2021 added little beyond nine appearances before his contract in Germany ran out in 2022. He returned to Brazil as a free agent, joining Cruzeiro in January 2023, and it is there that he has rebuilt his career. His extension keeps him at the club through 2026.
2024 was his best campaign in Cruzeiro's shirt: 60 appearances, five goals and ten assists, a return good enough to win the Bola de Prata as the Brasileirão's best right-back. He followed it with a quieter 2025 in front of goal but continued setting up chances for team-mates.
A senior call-up followed in August 2024 for World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay, though a debut for the full national team has not yet arrived.
