Amarante

The ground at the edge of Amarante has held the club since 1981, when the move to Estádio Municipal de Amarante took place. Five thousand places, refitted in 2006. Before Barroca there were three other pitches in eight years — the Praça, the Florestal, the Feira — a club shifting from one borrowed field to the next through the 1920s and early 1930s.

It began on 4 March 1923, and the man who signed for it as first president, Pompeu da Cunha Brochado, was 19 years old. Membership of the Porto football association came only in 1934; the club won the regional championship in that same first season under its wing.

The black and white kit gave the Alvinegros their name, and the honours since have come in clusters rather than a steady drip. Three titles in the Campeonato de Portugal — 2007–08, 2010–11 and 2023–24.
